Ever since I was a child I’ve been the quiet non-social type. Even today at the age of 21 I only have a couple close friends and am extremely shy. I often wonder if it’s social anxiety or just simply extreme shyness. It’s hard for me to initiate conversations with people, I hate when people compliment me sometimes, I feel awkward sometimes in public. I try to get out on weekends, but mostly by myself or with just one friend.
I also suffer from panic attacks from time to time, but is rarely initiated from social situations

I am 21 years of age and am constantly plagued with what my doctor calls “anxiety”. I have had all tests done and everything comes up normal. It has gotten worse and worse. I can swear sometimes it really is my heart and something is wrong. I can feel it clenching, and I get light headed, hard to breathe. How do I know this really just anxiety?

My sister has bipolar and has been hospitalized 6 times since she was 21.
She has a job in retail, but when she is not at work, she does nothing but sit in a chair or sleep.
How do I know if this behavior is a result of depression or just laziness?

I am confused between the two. How can you tell the difference between depression and just pure laziness?

Recession is 6 months of negative growth.
Depression is a prolonged decline in economic activity.
Now lets be more specific.
How many percent the economy has to decline per annum, and for how many years the decline has to last before we can call it a Depression?

I know this person who says she suffers from depression, but she has these extreme highs and lows. She goes from being giddy, compulsive and promiscuous to threatening to kill herself. Do you think she’s really manic depressive, and why would she lie about her condition?

When feeling tired and no mood to do anything, is it called depression? Or when thinking of a person too much, will it cause depression finally if things continue for a long time?
